WEEELABEX, in full Waste Electric and Electronic Equipment LABel of EXcellence, is an initiative of European collection systems. This norm ensures equal regulations for collecting, storing, transporting, processing, recycling and recovery of obsolete electrical and electronic equipment. With the new Regeling Afgedankte Elektrische en Elektronische Apparatuur (Dutch Legislation on Obsolete Electrical and Electronical Equipment), which entered into force on February 14 2014, the Dutch government, as one of the first EU countries, decided to make processing according to WEEELABEX legally required by July 1 2015.
What does this mean for you?
This means that from July 1 2015 onwards obsolete electrical and electronic equipment can only be handled by WEEELABEX-certified processors. No equipment may be offered to non-certified processors.
